Use this thread if you have any suggestions for improvements to the main site at www.retrocentral.moonfruit.com , such as the logo, way things are set out, etc. or any additions you like to see to what's already there. Or if you think it's great as it is, let us know that too ;D

RetroCentral High Score Table where each week we have a certian game featured with scoring involved. Of course on the hardest is what we must play them on too to make it more fun. A Archeive for the old challenges when a new one comes around created as a button and is simply a copy paste of last weeks classics whilst the new tab is the current weeks RetroCentral High Score Challenge. Try beating your Chuckie Egg on the Hardest.

Actually i do have a question about the ability of the main site to organise large media collections.
I was wondering what we have in the way of filtering or directory structure for the vids? While this isn't an issue if there is only a few files, once we start getting dozens of entries the ability to search or categorize becomes more important.
We have loads of great stuff over at RM but the 'flat' structure of the vids is a pain to navigate.

Interesting question Dazzy.
The only thing I can think of to do for the time being is to set up some kind of system with sub-pages. Long term, I'm gonna have to sort some sort of proper archive out. I agree that navigating the Retromaniacs video vault is a right royal pain in the arse which is a shame because there's been some cracking original content added on there (not saying the stuff linked from Youtube isn't good either but that's already archived within Youtube itself on various people's personal channel pages so not too much of a problem as far as that goes).

We'll start off with something everybody knows how to play Tetris on of course the Hardest Level 9 Type A difficulity.
Toxie of Course has to add it to the site and a section for each challenge and the rules on the forum.

You're right, sub pages would work fine - just splitting them into basic categories such as reviews, music, general interest etc would be good.
TBE i don'r know of any user generated site management that handles this kind of thing particularly well. The only other option is to host them elsewhere but then you end up with a fractured website which i think we should try and avoid if possible.

My Admin is crap. I'm getting lame features like No Options Available for the Header and Footer mod installing for example to add an Arcade.

Yeah, that's because late last night I put a slight block on things being done to the forum....basically, if he's still up for it, I've decided to go for Gav Crossling's offer of server space and I'll also be registering a proper .co.uk. address for the site and maybe the forum too. I've gotten in touch with him about it, he's confirmed he's got the message and he's going to get back to me as soon as he can. I've done a check on 123-reg.co.uk and 'retrocentral.co.uk' is already taken as a domain name...but it's up for renewal on 25th of November so we might still be able to snag it....there's no site there, it just looks like it's registered to an individual. Else, we'll need something different....I was thinking along the lines of 'retrowithattitude.co.uk' (Retro With Attitude), but I'm open to better suggestions from you guys. The actual site will still be called RetroCentral of course, I'm just talking about domain names here. If this all pans out as I'd like it to, I'm gonna be setting up a forum using another system, like Simple Machine Forums (which'll be more or less like this but without the ads, and will ensure all the visits here count as hits to our RetroCentral site and not Proboards) I'm 100% commited to making this the best it can be now, even if it takes us until Xmas or New Year to finally unveil it all to everyone else, which hopefully it won't As long as all the launch content is ready, the rest should be fairly easy to sort out. If Gav is able to sort us out, then I'll do an identikit forum with Simple Machine Forums and grant you full admin rights immediately so that you can add the arcade stuff and anything else you want to put on for us, If not, and we do stick with Proboards, then I'll put you back up to full admin status on here so you can get it sorted.

Site looks good. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Unfortunately, I'm not in a good tech place to offer vids of any worth. I could submit written reviews or something. I will, of course, respond to content as usual. Maybe I could start a PS3 vs. 360 flame war. That'd be something you don't often see. That was a joke, by the way.
Your humble servant,
Marcusjae

.com and .co.uk are gone but there is one that could be in our interest that is still available. www.retrocentral.netI sort of like this domain because it sounds more global than .com & .co.uk which could lead to more member hits. .com is American users. .co.uk is United Kingdom .net is World Wide So what do you think guys? Should Toxie snag it for us or not?
